Chris Zabriskie, born March 10, 1982 in Olympia, Washington, is an American composer and musician known for his ambient and instrumental music. His musical career began with the noise-rock duo Struggleburger, going solo unexpectedly in 2001 when other band members did not appear at a show. Between 2006 and 2009, Zabriskie released three vocal albums under the name lo-fi is sci-fi: The Black Hole, We Were Wrong, and O Great Queen Electric, What Do You Have Waiting for Me? In 2009, he shifted to instrumental music with The Dark Glow of the Mountains, followed by I Am a Man Who Will Fight for Your Honor and Preludes. Zabriskie has self-released his ambient albums on his website and has supported file sharing through BitTorrent. Notable releases include the albums Music from Neptune Flux (2016) and It’s a Wonderful Jaws (2018). In addition to his music, he has worked in filmmaking, producing music videos for John Vanderslice.
