Stefan Werni, a German bassist and composer born on September 25, 1967 in Herten, started his musical education at the Cologne University of Music in 1989. He began collaborating with various musicians across multiple genres early in his career. Werni's breakthrough came in 1987 when he toured Israel with Eckard Koltermann, becoming a permanent member of his band by 1990. His 2008 album, Werni & Jendreiko, notably explored electroacoustic music and sound design. He also co-founded the Europa Quartett in 2015, which blended jazz, rock, and electronic music. His final release was Europa Quartett (2023) with Christian Jendreiko, Frank Bergmann, and Dieter Schroeder. Stefan Werni passed away on June 27, 2024.
