The Sheer is a Dutch pop-rock band formed in 2000 in Haarlem. The group was founded by four music school friends, with lead vocalist and composer Bart van Liemt at its core. Their debut demo, The Sheer, was released in 2001, earning them regional radio play and their debut on national television. In 2004, the band released their debut studio album, The Keyword Is Excitement, which earned a Silver Harp award for its promise to Dutch pop culture, and featured the single “Right Now”, which peaked at number 10 on the Mega Top 50 chart. Their subsequent albums include Feel the Need (2006) and Here and Now and Long Before (2009). The group's other releases include the single “The Girl That Lost Her Mind”, which peaked at number 40 on the Dutch Top 40 chart. Their collaborative endeavors include the 2005 track “Hanginaround” with Counting Crows and Bløf, and their song “Understand” is featured as the title song of the video game FIFA 07.
