Beno Blachut, born on June 14, 1913, in Ostrava-Vítkovice, was a Czech operatic tenor. He received his initial musical training through his church's music program and began working at an iron factory in 1927. By 1935, he started studying singing at the Prague conservatory under Luis Kadeřábek. Blachut made his professional opera debut in 1938 as Jeník in Smetana's The Bartered Bride at the Olomouc Opera and joined the Czech National Opera in Prague in 1941. He expanded his repertoire to include dramatic roles, notably in operas by Leoš Janáček, Antonín Dvořák, and Bedřich Smetana. Blachut's international acclaim grew through performances with the Czech National Opera in various European countries and appearances at prestigious venues such as La Fenice, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Vienna State Opera. He died on January 10, 1985, in Prague.
