Jean Ethel Lewis, known professionally as Jeannie Lewis, born on January 8, 1945, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, is a singer known for her versatile work across jazz and rock genres. She began her musical career in the 1960s in Sydney, performing with various groups including the York Gospel Singers and the Ray Price Jazz Quintet. In 1973, Lewis released her debut album Free Fall Through Featherless Flight, which won Best Female Vocal Album at the Australian Radio Record Awards in 1974. Her subsequent albums include Looking Backwards to Tomorrow, in and out of Concert (1974), Tears of Steel & The Clowning Cavaleras (1976), and Piaf - The Songs and the Story (1982). Throughout her career, Lewis collaborated with notable artists such as Bon Scott and supported tours for artists like Buddy Guy. She also contributed to significant cultural events, including representing Australia at the International Festival of Contemporary Song in Cuba in 1967.
