Corpset is a Finnish death metal and thrash metal band formed in Oulu in 1998 under the name Chakra. Founded by guitarists Jari Kelloniemi and Tommi Määttä, the original lineup produced two demos before dissolving. In 2004, Kelloniemi relocated to Tampere and partnered with guitarist Jami Heikkala to revive the project. The group added drummer Timo Hanhijoki in 2006 and vocalist Antti Murtonen in 2008, followed by bassist Petri Palonkoski in late 2009. Their debut studio album, Ruins, was released via Violent Journey Records in April 2011. In September 2013, the band issued No Rest, featuring the track “No Rest”, with a music video directed by Matti Kuusniemi. Following subsequent lineup changes, Antti Haapsamo and Arto Tissari joined as the vocalist and bassist.
