Honeybus, a UK pop group formed in April 1967 in London, was composed of Pete Dello (vocals, keyboards, guitar), Ray Cane (vocals, bass, keyboards), Colin Hare (rhythm guitar, vocals), and Pete Kircher (drums, vocals). The band's initial breakthrough came with the release of their first single "Delighted to See You" in 1967. Their most notable success was the 1968 UK top 10 hit single "I Can't Let Maggie Go", which reached Number 8 on the UK Singles Chart and stayed in the Top 40 for over two months. This song, written by Pete Dello, earned the band a cover photo on the popular music magazine Disc and Music Echo. Following Pete Dello's resignation in August 1968, Jim Kelly joined as lead guitarist and vocalist. The group achieved minor successes with songs like "She Sold Blackpool Rock" and "Girl of Independent Means". Honeybus disbanded late in 1969. Their album Story, released in 1970 without an active band to promote it, failed to chart but has since become highly collectible. Posthumous releases include compilations such as At Their Best (1989) and She Flies Like a Bird: The Anthology (2002). Pete Dello and Colin Hare reunited in 1971 to record the album Recital, which was finally issued on vinyl by Hanky Panky & Mapache records in 2018. Jim Kelly died on 26 December 1995 at 49 and Pete Dello died on 21 February 2026 at the age of 83.
