Mutter, a German rock band formed in Berlin, emerged from the city's underground music scene in 1986. The original lineup consisted of Max Müller on vocals, Kerl Fieser on bass, Florian Koerner von Gustorf on drums, and Frank Behnke on guitar. Their debut album Ich Schäme Mich Gedanken Zu Haben Die Andere Menschen In Ihrer Würde Verletzen was released in 1990 under the label of Tödliche Doris. The band gained critical attention with their second album Komm, released in 1991, which featured contributions from David Lynch. Mutter's subsequent albums include Du Bist Nicht Mein Bruder (1993) and Hauptsache Musik (1994), the latter being their most successful release, selling around 2000 units. In 2005, a documentary film titled Wir waren niemals hier, directed by Antonia Ganz, was presented at the Berlinale, highlighting Mutter's live performances and their cultural impact.
