Jerry Spin, the alter ego of musician Jeroen De Gussem (Ghent, Belgium), is a “spinner” of stories. He makes cinematic pop noir, flirting with Britpop (Blur) and indie (Arctic Monkeys). Sometimes he is caught snooping on the pathos of musical theatre, and the humour of black comedy (Father John Misty, Elbow). Narrative, satire and theatrics are tremendously important constants in his song-writing, where Jerry Spin voices pensive characters who sing about the human condition, society, and politics.
On his upcoming debut album Family Man (to be released March 2026), Jerry Spin explores the intimacy, complexity, and absurdity of family life – from love and connection to routine, guilt, and alienation. With sharp social observations and character-driven storytelling, Jerry Spin takes you through the many lives of his title character: the madman, the conman, the family man. From youthful freedom to adult responsibility, from promises that constrict to relationships that strain – Family Man is a critical, sometimes cynical, yet always emotionally charged exploration and celebration of coming to age.
