Alf Gunnar Hambe was a Swedish author, composer, and singer-songwriter born on January 24, 1931, in Rävinge. After graduating from secondary school in 1951, he trained as a primary school teacher and worked in the profession for over ten years before transitioning to a full-time music career in the mid-1960s. Hambe was a central figure in the Swedish ballad tradition, creating over 500 songs often set in his fictional landscape of Molom. He released over twenty records, including the 1962 debut Astronaut till häst, the 1977 album Molom, and 1993’s Guldspår. Later in his career, he collaborated with Hans Kennemark on hymns and choral works. Hambe received the royal medal Litteris et Artibus in 2008 and the Dan Andersson-priset in 2010. He lived in Steninge for the majority of his life until his death on May 6, 2022.
