Stake, originally formed as Steak Number Eight in 2004, is a Belgian post-metal band from Wevelgem, Belgium. The group gained early recognition by winning the local Westtalent contest in 2007 and later Humo's Rock Rally in March 2008, making them the youngest winners in the competition’s history with an average age of 15.5 years. Following these victories, Stake recorded their debut album When the Candle Dies Out... at home. In March 2011, they released their second album All Is Chaos, produced by Mario Goossens and mixed by Matt Bayles, which received positive feedback. The album was published in the UK by Metal Hammer in 2012, leading to their inclusion in the Razor Tour later that year. Their third album, The Hutch, was released in Europe in March and April 2013, with a stream available on De Standaard a week before its Belgian release. The band officially changed their name to Stake in 2018.
