Naildown, a melodic death metal band from Helsinki, Finland, was formed in 2003 under the name Acid Universe by Harri Heikkinen and Jarmo Puikkonen. The band's lineup solidified with the addition of vocalist Daniel Freyberg and bassist Matti Hämäläinen. In 2005, they signed with Spinefarm Records and released their debut single "Eyes Wide Open" followed by the album World Domination. Shortly after, Harri Heikkinen left the band and was replaced by Janne Jukarainen. Naildown released their second album, Dreamcrusher, in 2007, which was named Album of the Week on stalkermusic.com. They toured Europe with Ensiferum and Suidakra and were nominated for the Finnish Metal Awards. Keyboardist Jarmo Puikkonen left the band in November 2007, and drummer Janne Jukarainen departed later in September 2008. The band continued with Heikki Saari as their new drummer but struggled to find a permanent keyboardist.
