Jean-Jacques Beauvarlet-Charpentier, born on June 28, 1734, in Abbeville, Picardy, France, was a French harpsichordist, organist and composer. His father, an organ builder and merchant, introduced him to music at an early age. In 1759, Beauvarlet-Charpentier performed one of his concertos at the Concert Spirituel in Paris, marking a significant breakthrough in his career. He succeeded his father as organist at the Hospice de la Charité in Lyon and later held positions at the Lyon Academy of Fine Arts and the Royal Abbey of Saint Victor in Paris. In 1783, he became the titular organist of Notre-Dame Cathedral, a position he held until 1793. Beauvarlet-Charpentier's compositions included numerous works for organ and harpsichord, such as 6 Fugues pour l'orgue, Op. 6 (1784) and Journal d’orgue No. 12 (1785), as well as various sonatas and concertos. He died on May 6, 1794, in Paris.
