Goya is a Polish pop band founded in 1995 in Warsaw, Poland. The group was founded by vocalist and acoustic guitarist Magdalena Wójcik, keyboardist Rafał Gorączkowski, and guitarist Grzegorz Jędrach, later joined by bassist Łukasz Dudewicz and drummer Rafał Klimczuk. Wójcik, who was born in 1975 in Krasnystaw, Poland, participated in numerous singing contests from a high school age and released a debut cassette album in 1993 through the label Dalmafon. The band debuted with the self-titled album Goya (1998), which featured the single “Bo Ya” (1998) that reached Number 1 on the national radio station Polskie Radio. Their second album, Kawałek po kawałku (2003), was followed by Smak słów (2005), which peaked at number 7 on the Polish albums chart and won Pop Album of the Year at the Fryderyk awards. In 2006, they released the single “Tylko mnie kochaj” (2006) for a film of the same name, which reached Number 1 in Poland. Their subsequent albums include Horyzont zdarzeń (2007), Od wschodu do zachodu (2009), Chwile (2012), which peaked at number 29 on the albums chart, Widoki (2015), and Rozdział VIII (2023).
