After Veit Kutzer and Hannes Holzmann founded J.B.O. in Erlangen in 1989, the duo initially made a name for themselves with gigs in the local area. A short time later, Holmer Graap and Thomas Schmitt joined the band before four EPs were released in 1994: Eine gute CD zum Kaufen!, Eine gute CD zum Saufen, BLASTphemie and BLASTphemie Weihnachts-Edition. J.B.O. entered the German album charts for the first time with their debut LP Explizite Lyrik, released in 1995, reaching 57th place and winning a gold record. The group, who covered numerous rock and pop classics at the beginning of their career and consistently turned to a mixture of metal and fun punk, reached number 13 in the German charts with laut! (1997), the group reached number 13 on the German hit list. Their first top 10 coup came in 1998 with Meister der Musik. While the two follow-up albums Sex Sex Sex (2000) and Rosa Armee Fraktion (2002) again reached number 13 in the German LP sales lists, United States of Blödsinn even reached number 6 in 2004. J.B.O., who had meanwhile replaced Graap and Schmitt with Ralph Bach on bass and Wolfram Kellner on drums, played a support gig in front of over 100,000 people at a farewell concert by the German rock band Böhse Onkelz in 2005. The fun metal quartet's 2000s came to a close with further LPs, Head Bang Boing (2007) and I Don't Like Metal (I Love It) in 2009. J.B.O., who have sold over half a million records over the years, then went on to position themselves in the Top 5 of the German album charts four albums in a row with Killeralbum (2011), Nur die Besten werden alt (2014), 11 (2016) and Deutsche Vita in 2018. Who lets the pig out? (2019) also celebrated success in Austria (63rd place) and Switzerland (84th place) in addition to a 9th place in Germany. The album Planet Pink (2022) reaches number 12 in the German charts. At the start of 2026, J.B.O. return with the album Haus Of The Rising Fun.
