Chili and the Whalekillers

Chili and the Whalekillers, an Austrian-Icelandic alternative rock band, was formed in 2009 by songwriters Chili Tomasson and Hjörtur Hjörleiffsson. The group initially performed concerts in Salzburg and Reykjavík before releasing their debut album The Tragic Tale of Julie and the Crying Clown in 2011. This release marked their breakthrough, leading to performances at the Biennale 2011 in Salzburg and media coverage in Austria. In 2012, they released The Banker on the Run, a concept album addressing the global financial crisis. The band achieved notable success with their third album Turn (2013), which featured the title track reaching number 3 on the Icelandic charts. Subsequent albums include A Dot in the Sky (2015) and Words on Tuesdays (2016).
