Nuclear Valdez is an American rock ensemble from Miami established in 1983. The group was founded by vocalist and guitarist Froilan Sosa and lead guitarist Jorge Barcala. The members are of Latin American descent and were born outside of the United States. Their recording career began after signing with the label Epic Records and releasing the debut studio recording I Am I (1989). The ensemble reached wider visibility with the single "Summer" (1989), which received rotation on MTV. Nuclear Valdez performed the song on MTV Unplugged, becoming the first all-Latino ensemble to appear on the program. Their discography included the studio recording Dream Another Dream (1991) and the studio recording Present From the Past (2017). They performed on tours as the supporting act for the ensemble The Hooters and the ensemble The Church.
