Aheads, a German punk band from Herford, was formed in 1975 under the initial name Ron Age Band. The group evolved through various names before settling on Aheads. Their first performance occurred in 1977 at Hellepark as Those Fuckin’Aheads, inspired by a comic character from Robert Crumb. After hearing punk songs from England, particularly through John Peel's radio show, and attending a Wire concert in 1978, the band began writing their own music. In 1980, they released their debut EP Freedom of Speech. The following year saw the release of their self-titled album Aheads under Aggressive Rock Productions. Aheads notably participated in the Soundtracks zum Untergang 1 tour with Slime, Beton Combo, and Middle Class Fantasies in 1982. Their final gig took place in January 1983 at the Audimax of the University of Bielefeld, where internal disputes led to their disbandment. The band's singer, Andy Stillion, passed away in July 2010.
