Savannah Churchill, born Savannah Valentine Roberts on August 21, 1920 in Colfax, Louisiana, was an American rhythm and blues singer. She began singing in church choirs and performing as a violinist before leaving a waitressing job in 1939 to pursue a music career. Her first recordings appeared on Beacon Records in 1942, and she gained a breakthrough with the 1945 single "Daddy Daddy" which reached number 3 on the R&B chart. In 1947, Churchill’s "I Want To Be Loved (But Only By You)" topped the charts for eight weeks, establishing her as a leading performer of the era. Churchill’s career ended in 1956 after a severe injury, and she died of pneumonia in Brooklyn on April 19, 1974.
