Nesian Mystik was a New Zealand hip-hop/R&B group formed in 1999 at Auckland's Western Springs College. The band initially performed under the name Tropical Penguins. Their debut album Polysaturated, released in November 2002, debuted at Number 1 on the New Zealand album chart and was certified four times platinum, producing hits such as "Nesian Style" and "It's On". In November 2005, they released their second album, Freshmen, which entered the charts at number 8. Their third album, Elevator Musiq (October 2008), featured the top ten hits "Nesian 101" and "Dancefloor". The group disbanded in 2011 after a successful career that included four commercially successful albums and numerous New Zealand Music Award nominations. They hold the record for the most number of top-10 singles in the New Zealand singles chart by a New Zealand artist, with 11 hits, including "Sun Goes Down."
