“I am creating stillness in motion.”
The Polish-Hungarian flutist and saxophonist Juli Deák bridges classical, contemporary, and jazz music through tender melodic lines, circular breathing, and percussive effects. Her sound is deeply rooted in the classical tradition while embracing experimentation, improvisation and folk influences.
Her curious and exploratory artistic voice has led her to engage with experimental music, jazz, and folk, and to build collaborations with KammarensembleN, Konstmusiksystrar and VENI ensemble.
Her artistic work has for many years focused on the physical and expressive limits of the flute—exploring circular breathing, breath sounds, and singing while playing—which has led to her current solo project, The Breathing Project.
Alongside this, her current project, Haldamas x Hulajdusza, merges jazz with traditional folk music, reflecting her commitment to cultural fusion and innovation.
