Arcana Obscura, a German music project founded in 1990 by Thomas Gäbhard, initially began as a solo endeavor focusing on purist electronic body music. The project evolved into a blend of archaisch dark wave/ambient with medieval and classical music elements, incorporating acoustic instruments from various ethnic traditions. Arcana Obscura's debut album Arcana Obscura was released in 1994, followed by notable works such as Fields of the Lost (1998) and Themes from Doom (2000). The project collaborated with several guest musicians, including Angelika Meindl and Heike, who later became a permanent singer. Live performances began in 1993 at the Münchener Theatron-Open-Air, with subsequent tours and notable appearances such as headlining the Power of A New Aeon Festival in 1998. Arcana Obscura's live shows often featured dance performances and fire displays, enhancing their mystical themes.
