Bill Fox is a songwriter and recording artist from Cleveland, Ohio. Since the mid-1980s, he has
been a mythical figure in the Ohio music scene, first as the frontman for the seminal Cleveland
punk-powerpop group The Mice and later as a prolific solo artist known to have influenced such
indie luminaries as Robert Pollard, M. Ward, and Elliott Smith. Often described as an enigma
and known for his trademark aloofness toward musical fame and fortune, Bill Fox has evaded
the mainstream for over 30 years while flooring those in the know with his poignant, masterful
lyricism, his estimable compositional brilliance, and his tape-drenched home recording
aesthetic. His previous albums, namely 1997’s Shelter from the Smoke and 1998’s Transit
Byzantium, have been hailed as masterpieces of lo-fi cassette recording, and his all-new album,
Resonance, was released in 2025 via Eleventh Hour Recording Company.
