Fenix TX was formed in Houston, Texas, in 1995 by guitarist‑drummer Damon DeLaPaz, guitarist‑vocalist Will Salazar, drummer Donnie Reyes, and vocalist Carl Lockstedt; the lineup later added bassist Adam Lewis. The group first released the EP G.B.O.H. in 1996 under the name Riverfenix, followed by the full‑length Riverfenix in 1997 on Drive‑Thru Records. After a cease‑and‑desist order forced a name change, the band signed with MCA Records and issued the self‑titled Fenix TX on 13 July 1999, reaching Number 115 on the Billboard 200 and Number 3 on the Top Heatseekers; the single "All My Fault" peaked at Number 21 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart and was featured in the 2000 TV movie Jailbait. In 2001, the band released Lechuza, which entered the Billboard 200 at Number 87 and produced the single "Threesome" that charted at Number 66 on the UK Singles Chart. After a brief split in 2002, Fenix TX reunited in 2005, issued the live album Purple Reign in Blood – Live, and toured the United States and Japan. The group continued to perform and record sporadically through 2025, with Adam Lewis’s death from pancreatic cancer in 2024 marking the end of an era for the band.
