Night Hours is a project by songwriter and recording artist Nigel Mear.
Songwriting has always been a refuge or haven for me. A way to find some kinda truth. A way of finding something that I need to say – even if it’s only to myself. And a way of trying to make sense of situations and the madness of this world.
Many of these songs were written in the dead of night, in quiet moments of contemplation and reflection – that’s why my work is released under the name ‘Night Hours’. And ‘Night Hours’ also represents a collective of some of my very closest friends who have contributed to the making of this album.
This album wasn’t recorded on some windswept clifftop, or a misty mountain (I always thought it would be) … but fittingly it was recorded right in the heart of East London. An organic approach, proper ‘old school’ - Recorded in real studios, with real people… and I hope the magic and honesty of that shines through.
It sometimes feels like music is the only thing that makes any sense. Music brings us all closer together… and I hope that you connect with the heart of this album and the truth within these songs. Thank you for listening Xx
