Haggard is a German classical-medieval metal orchestra from the Munich area, whose musical style is characterized by the combination of classical, medieval, and Renaissance music with contemporary metal elements. Due to the classical elements, the band is also classified as symphonic metal. The group released their demo, Introduction Tape, in 1992. Their breakthrough came with their debut album And Thou Shalt Trust... the Seer in 1997. Following this release, Haggard embarked on tours across Mexico after releasing Awaking the Centuries in 2000, which peaked at number 64 on the German charts. In 2004, their album Eppur Si Muove, based on Galileo Galilei's life, reached number 47 on the German charts. Subsequent albums included Tales of Ithiria, released in 2008.
