Trent Severn, a Canadian folk trio composed of Emm Gryner, Dayna Manning, and Lindsay Schindler, was founded in 2011. The group named itself after the Trent-Severn Waterway in Southern Ontario. In November 2012, they released their self-titled debut album under Dead Daisy Records, which received positive reviews. The trio's music often referenced Canadian culture and landscapes, with all members contributing to songwriting and vocals. They were nominated for two 2013 Canadian Folk Music Awards and performed at notable events, including a flag-raising ceremony on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on July 1, 2013. Their subsequent albums included Trillium (2015) and Portage (2017). The band announced a hiatus on January 21, 2019.
