With his eternal teenage looks and his custom-made Toile de Jouy suit, ArchiPol is a refreshing and exciting addition to the world of French chanson. If you think, by looking at him, that he’s a dull wallflower, wait until you hear his music. ArchiPol is a rare singer-songwriter that can dissect human nature in a tender, biting and mocking tone.
Having studied at the Royal of College of Music in London, ArchiPol not only has a solid musical background but just as interesting is his ability to deploy, at will, a very British delivery – cool, funny, sarcastic and deadpan (all at the same time!).
After two albums, ArchiPol comes back in 2023 with a new opus, opening a new chapter in his music and which he is presenting through a European mini-tour (Paris, London, Amsterdam).
His new album, ‘Au naturel’ has been entirely recorded on magnetic band, with crystal-clear sound for each acoustic instrument, paying tribute to the shape and harmonic qualities of old-time records. Each song on it is like an island, with its own specific fauna, flora and atmosphere. Yet they all speak of the light and darkness of human love: happy topics next to somber (sometimes tragic) ones, but always on rhythmical and dancing tunes.
Long story short, ArchiPol adds a bittersweet twist to his French chanson.
