James Spratling, known professionally as J Majik, born in Northwood, England, is an English drum and bass DJ and producer. He released his first track in 1992 under the name DJ Dextrous on Planet Earth Records, before adopting the moniker J Majik in 1994 to avoid confusion with another artist. He released tracks on Suburban Base Records, Metalheadz, and Mo' Wax, and founded the label Infrared. In 2000, his single “Love Is Not a Game” featuring Kathy Brown reached number 34 on the UK Singles Chart. He followed with “Metrosound” alongside Adam F, which reached number 54 in 2002, and “Scooby Doo” / “Spycatcher” with Wickaman, which reached number 67 in 2004. His discography includes the compilation album FabricLive.13 (2003) and the single “Crazy World” with Wickaman. He has also released music under the aliases Innervisions and Infrared, collaborating with artists including Goldie, DJ Hype, and Dee Freer.
