Juan Carlos Zarabanda, born on April 3, 1972, in the rural hamlet of Buena Vista, Chaparral (Tolima), began singing at age seven and earned early acclaim by winning multiple local vallenato festivals. In his youth, he performed with his school band and later joined Los Hermanos Campos before forming Trío Sensación alongside his cousin Didier and fellow musicians, which led to his debut LP Mi Madre Está en el Cielo in 1992—an album that resonated deeply within his community. Seven months later, he followed up with Nuestro Gran Amor, featuring the track “Nací en el Sur,” a heartfelt homage to his Tolima roots. By the early 2000s, Juan Carlos Zarabanda had cemented his presence in Colombian ranchera and popular music through albums like En Primer Lugar (2004) while collaborating with notable regional composers like Arnulfo Moreno and José Faxier Sánchez. That momentum continued in the following decades with a string of solo singles across romantic and despecho themes—works like “Igual Que Ayer” (2019), “Tu Libertad” (2019), “Por Miedo a Perderte” (2020), and “Borracho y Loco” (2020)—which resonated on playlists and digital radio. In 2025, he released the EP Me Duele Tu Amor, a five-track project recorded in collaboration with Segundo Rosero.
