The Mouldy Lovers is a seven-member Australian gypsy-influenced ska group from the West End suburb of Brisbane, established in early 2010. Initially formed as a folk trio consisting of Louis Whelan, Jade Channells, and Matt Hsu, the band expanded later that year by adding Jen Horn, Nicholas Downing, Henri Paternoster, and Caroline Townsend. The group gained prominence in 2011 with the release of its second EP, Kakistocracy, followed by frequent performances at festivals across Queensland and New South Wales. In January 2013, the band released its debut studio album, Yonder Ruckus, which received national airplay on Triple J and reached Number 1 for multiple weeks on the 4ZZZ charts. The group has performed with international acts and at major events like Woodford Folk Festival and Falls Festival. In 2017, the band was nominated for a QMusic Queensland Music Award in the world music category. The lineup later included Jonathan Sriranganathan and Gavin Cook.
