Subterranean Disposition was a progressive melodic death doom band formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 2011 by Terry Vainoras. The group’s origins traced back to 2005, when Vainoras collaborated with Mark Kelson on the Insomnius Dei project, resulting in the album Illusions of Silence. Inspired by this experience, Vainoras launched Subterranean Disposition and began writing material for their debut album, inviting D’arcy Molan as a guest saxophonist. Their self-titled debut album was released on October 27, 2012, via Hypnotic Dirge Records. In 2016, the band released Contagiuum and The Landscapes of Failure, which received widespread acclaim. Their third studio album, Individuation, was released on June 24, 2023, further establishing their distinctive sound, which blended melodic death doom with progressive metal, black metal, dark jazz, world music, and folklore influences.
