Nitocris

Nitocris, an Australian rock band, was formed in Sydney in 1992 by Sara Louise Anderson, Jessamine Jean Finlayson, Andrea Marie Stanway, and Kira Taylor. The group recruited Morgana Ancone as a vocalist later that year. Nitocris released their debut EP Ten Stories Down in June 1994, followed by their first album Screaming Dolorous in November of the same year. They gained prominence as one of Australia's earliest all-female punk rock groups within the "grot grrrls" movement. The band released several EPs including Epic Voyage, Hyperland, and Butter. Their self-titled album in 2000 showcased a more pop-oriented sound and included the single "In the Middle". Nitocris received an ARIA Award nomination for Best Independent Release in 2001. The band disbanded in November 2001.
