Cari Elise Fletcher, popularly known as Fletcher, is an American indie rock vocalist and songwriter who took singing lessons as a child growing up in New Jersey. Born on March 19, 1994, in Asbury Park, New Jersey, she first attracted attention at age 16 as the vocalist for the band Lakoda Rayne, which dropped out in the fifth show of the 2011 season of the American version of The X Factor. She studied for a year at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in New York and then moved to Nashville to pursue a professional career. Her 2015 debut single "War Paint" became popular online and served as the lead track from her 2016 EP Finding Fletcher, which includes the singles "Live Young and Die Free," "Avalanche," and Wasted Youth." "You Should Talk" came out in 2017 followed by "I Believe You" and "Undrunk," which went to number 17 on Billboard's Mainstream Top 40 upon its release in March 2019. It reached number 48 on the Radio Songs chart and number 61 on the Hot 100 as she placed at number 5 on Billboard's Next Big Sound chart. The song was included in her second extended play You Ruined New York City for Me, released in 2019. Following the release of a third EP titled The S(ex) Tapes in 2020, Fletcher entered the studio to start working on her first full-length album. Preceded by the singles "Her Body Is Bible," "Becky's So Hot," and "Sting," her studio debut Girl of My Dreams finally arrived in 2022 and peaked at number 15 on the Billboard 200. It was followed two years later by In Search of the Antidote, a more mature, streamlined effort that went to number 36 on the US pop charts in 2024. After the release of the live album The Antidote: Fletcher Live (2024), the single "Boy" followed ahead of the third studio full length Would You Still Love Me If You Really Knew Me?, issued in July 2025.
