With some minor formal music training during his younger years, Jorge Chacin always found himself with a guitar by his side, picking up knowledge through individual teaching and self-practice. Playing very little guitar during his college years, graduating Jorge helped form the Miami based band Nine O’Clock with good friends and work colleagues and ended up as their main vocalist and rhythm guitarist. The band wrote several originals and played in the South Beach, Florida area for a couple of years. The guitar took second stage and gathered dust until early 2020. March 2020, at 55 years, Jorge decided to rekindle his interest for the guitar, set up a small recording studio in his home office and began a re-learning and creative process that brought him to the launch of his first solo project. Shades of Strings is a mix of mellow rock, jazz voicings, funk and basic chord melody, with personal lyrical themes layered throughout the songs. To Jorge’s pleasant surprise, the songs project (unintentionally) 56 years of musical influences and tastes, from progressive rock to 90s love songs, from the Bee Gees to Gilmore to Rush…
