Andrew Winton, born February 1972 in Perth, Australia, is a musician. He started his musical journey as a drummer before transitioning to electric guitar and playing with bands like Hodad City and 3Ph, which won Western Australia's The Next Big Thing competition in 1997. Inspired by Rory McLeod’s performance in 2002, Winton focused on solo songwriting and lap-style guitars, releasing his debut album Barrel O'Monkeys in 2003. He followed this with The Decompression Chamber in February 2006, which received critical acclaim, and Surface Tension in January 2009. Winton won the Folk/Acoustic category of the Australian Songwriters Association awards for "Lucky Boy" and was nominated for multiple WAMi West Australian Music Industry Awards. He has performed at various festivals, including the National Folk Festival and the Woodford Folk Festival.
