British electronic music duo Deepest Blue, comprising Matt Schwartz and Joel Edwards, formed in England in 2002. Prior to Deepest Blue, Schwartz had collaborated with notable artists such as Arthur Baker, Mica Paris, JTQ, and Massive Attack, contributing to the latter's album Mezzanine by co-writing "Dissolved Girl" for the 1999 film The Matrix. Edwards, a fellow producer and singer-songwriter, had worked with Ed Case, Planet Funk, Chicane, M Factor, Skin, and Melanie C. Deepest Blue released their debut single "Deepest Blue" in 2003, which peaked at number 7 on the UK Singles Chart. Their second single, "Give It Away", reached number 9 in early 2004. The duo's third release, "Is It a Sin", entered the Top 30 in May 2004, followed by their fourth single, "Shooting Star", which peaked at number 57 and was used as the backing music for Sky Sports News from 2004 to 2007. Their only album, Late September, reached number 22 on the UK Albums Chart in June 2004, selling 70,000 copies and earning a silver disc. After a hiatus, Deepest Blue reformed in 2006 and released "Miracle" on Destined Records in March 2010. The group disbanded in 2010. In May 2020, they announced their reunion with new releases including "Bad Guy" in January 2021 and "Rage" in July 2021.
