Masterplan

Masterplan is a German power metal group founded in 2001 by guitarist Roland Grapow and drummer Uli Kusch after their departure from Helloween; the band originated in Germany and quickly attracted attention with its high‑energy songwriting and technical proficiency. The debut album Masterplan was released in 2003, establishing the band’s signature blend of melodic hooks and heavy riffing. This was followed by the Back for My Life EP in 2004, and subsequent studio albums Aeronautics (2005), MK II (2007), and Time to Be King (2010), distributed through AFM Records and later Marquee Avalon. Notable singles such as “Far from the End of the World” (2010) and collaborations with vocalist Jorn Lande on Time to Be King highlighted the band’s versatility. In 2015, the live album/DVD Keep Your Dream aLive was released. The lineup evolved to include musicians such as Rick Altzi, Jari Kainulainen, and Kevin Kott. The band followed up with albums Novum Initium in 2013, and PumpKings in 2017. In 2026, Masterplan returned with their seventh studio album, Metalmorphosis.
