Vladimir Leonardovich Matetsky, born on May 14, 1952, in Moscow, is a Russian composer and producer. He began his musical journey under the tutelage of Sofija Moisseevna Karpilovskaya, learning both guitar and piano, with significant influence from The Beatles. In the late 1960s, Matetsky started performing in various rock bands and composing songs, initially in English. His breakthrough came with "Lavanda", a song he wrote for Sofia Rotaru, which earned a golden disc from Melodiya. Throughout his career, Matetsky has collaborated extensively with Rotaru on notable tracks such as "Hutoryanka" and "Luna, luna". He is also known for producing songs like "Bolsche ne vstrechu" by Alexander Barykin and "Avtomobili" by Vesiolie Rebiata. Matetsky has lived and worked in Moscow and has been a member of the Russian Authors' Society.
