All Saved Freak Band, a contemporary American Christian rock music group, was formed in 1968. The band began by broadcasting their first recorded songs on WREO radio in Ashtabula County, Ohio. Their debut album, My Poor Generation, was released in 1973. The band's second album, For Christians, Elves and Lovers, combined evangelical theology with admiration for J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy world. An album copy remained with the Tolkien Collection at Marquette University. Following an industrial accident that severely injured Joe Markko in 1973, the band continued with rhythm guitarist Ed Durkos, learning all of Markko’s music. Their third album, titled Brainwashed, was released in 1975. The fourth album, Sower, was released in 1980 which was heavily influenced by Larry Hill's apocalyptic visions.
