Nils Mönkemeyer, born in 1978 in Holzwickede, Germany, is a notable violist and university teacher. He started his musical education on the violin at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen before switching to the viola in 1997. Mönkemeyer studied under Christian Pohl at the Musikhochschule Hannover and completed his studies with a Konzertexamen in Munich in 2006.
