The Paradise Motel is an Australian rock band formed in Hobart, Tasmania, in 1994. The group initially consisted of Matt Aulich on electric guitar, Matt Bailey on bass guitar, and Charles Bickford on acoustic guitar. After relocating to Melbourne in 1995, the band released their debut EP, Left Over Life to Kill (1996), via Mushroom Records' offshoot Infectious Records. The EP reached number 2 on the Australian Alternative Charts and became one of the highest-selling alternative releases of 1996. Their first full-length album, Still Life (1997), was issued, followed by their second album, Flight Paths (1998), after moving to London. The band disbanded in 2000 following a period of touring and releasing remix compilations such as Reworkings (1999), but reformed in 2008.
