Insomniac Folklore, an American rock band from Portland, Oregon, was founded in 2001 by Tyler Hentschel. The group initially started as a side project for Hentschel, who performed acoustic singer-songwriter sets under the name The Tyler Hentschel Band. Insomniac Folklore released their debut album Consumer Appreciation in January 2003 and gained moderate popularity with it. In September 2005, they released Smile or Die, which was recognized as one of HM Magazine's top five staff picks for the year. The band's sound evolved over time, moving from early influences like The Beatles to a darker, more theatrical style reminiscent of Nick Cave and Tom Waits. Subsequent notable albums include Oh Well (2007), LP (2010), and A Place Where Runaways are Not Alone (2011). Insomniac Folklore has toured extensively and collaborated with various artists, including Jason Webley and Chelsea Wolfe. In 2017, the band released Everything Will Burn.
