Space Waltz, a glam rock band from New Zealand, was formed in 1974 by frontman Alastair Riddell. The group initially performed as a covers band named Stewart and the Belmonts before entering the television talent quest New Faces under the name Space Waltz. Their breakthrough came with the single "Out on the Street," which reached Number 1 on the New Zealand charts in 1974. Shortly after, they were signed by EMI Records and released their debut album, Space Waltz, in 1975. The album featured backing vocals by The Yandall Sisters and included the hit single "Fraulein Love." Space Waltz won Best New Artist at the 1975 Recording Arts Talent Awards but disbanded shortly after an unsuccessful attempt to secure a record deal in Australia. In 2023, the band reunited for the release of their second album, Victory, which included new songs and re-recordings of selected tracks from their first album.
