Rainer Berger studied at the Musikhochschule in Cologne and lives as a freelance musician and composer in Brühl/Rhineland. As an interpreter of mainly his own works, he plays in permanent casts.
3 pirouetten; with Daniela Mars (Brazil/France) Dr. Eftihia Arkoudis (Greece/USA) In spring 2020, Rainer Berger received a grant from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia for the composition of new works for 3 flutes. -Duo raan; own compositions and improvisations for flute/alto flute/EWI together with Andi Reisner, guitar/electronics.
-In 2021/22 Rainer Berger received a GEMA grant for the composition of new works for flute and harp
-Collaboration with the 2012 Bulgarian Beatbox World Champion Alexander Deyanov aka Skiller. The composition of new works was supported by a NRW grant 2021.
Solo – collaboration with the multiple award-winning author Norbert Scheuer. For Norbert Scheuers book Mutabor; he composed the cycle papyrus; 2022 for author readings. The project was funded in 2022 with a grant from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia
For his compositions he received prizes at the Siegburg composition competition in 2008, 2016 and 2017.
