Louis de La Coste, also known as Louis Lacoste, was a French composer and singer born around 1675. He began his musical career as a chorister at the Académie royale de musique in 1693. His first significant contribution to the Académie was the ballet Aricie in 1697. Lacoste returned to the stage with Philomèle in 1705, which showcased his mastery of the tragédie lyrique genre. He served as the conductor of the Opéra de Paris from 1710 to 1714 and later as music master until 1717. Notable works include Télégone (1725) and Orion (1728). Lacoste's final years saw a decline in his operatic output, though he continued to receive pensions until around 1757.
