Dead Congregation, a Greek death metal band from Athens, was formed in 2004 by lead guitarist and vocalist Anastasis Valtsanis following the split of his previous band Nuclear Winter. The group's debut release was the EP Purifying Consecrated Ground, released on May 1, 2005, through Konqueror Records. Their first full-length album, Graves of the Archangels, was released on January 30, 2008, in collaboration with Nuclear War Now! Productions and received critical acclaim for its songwriting and atmosphere. The band's second full-length album, Promulgation of the Fall, was released on May 16, 2014, through Profound Lore Records and Norma Envagelium Diaboli, garnering positive reviews from various music publications. In 2016, Dead Congregation released their EP Sombre Doom.
