Erasmo Catarino González Bernal is a Mexican singer and politician born on November 25, 1977, in Xalpatláhuac, Guerrero. An indigenous Nahuatl speaker, he worked as a primary schoolteacher before participating in the television program La Academia. González Bernal won the fourth season of the competition in July 2005. He released his debut studio album, Erasmo: El Conde, in December 2005, which sold over 100,000 copies. In 2006, he placed second in the competition Desafío de Estrellas and released the album A Toda Banda. He received a Muse award from Premios Oye!. His third studio recording, Por un Amor, appeared in June 2007, followed by Solo Por Ella in 2012. In his political career, González Bernal contended in the 2024 general election for the Ecologist Green Party of Mexico. He was sworn in as a senator on June 26, 2025, representing the state of Chiapas.
