Born Lee Hong-gi (Korean: 이홍기;) on 2 March 1990 in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, the South Korean singer, actor and media personality also known professionally as Hongki rose to fame as the frontman of South Korean rockers F.T. Island. In 2015, he stepped out as a solo artist with his debut EP FM302, crafting a pulsating blend of electronic pop and festival-ready EDM drops with smooth vocals. AM302, his first Japanese-language studio album—a Japanese rework of FM302 featuring Japanese versions of five songs from the record plus three new Japanese songs—followed that same year while he continued to grow his acting portfolio with work on television dramas including 2009's You're Beautiful—winning the
New Star Award at the 2009 SBS Drama Awards for his work on the soundtrack while also that year named among the Top 10 Singers at the 17th Korean Culture and Entertainment Awards—and 2017's A Korean Odyssey. In 2010, he was crowned Best Male Singer at the 16th Korean Entertainment Arts Awards and in 2013 he picked up the InStyle Fashionista Award at the 27th Golden Disk Awards. 2018 saw the release of his second Japanese-language studio album Cheers via Warner Music Japan with Korean EP Do n Do also emerging that year. Japanese album Mixtape followed in 2020 with Japanese EP Drawing arriving in 2021. He has lent his voice to various soundtracks over the years, including 2021's online role-playing game Elsword while he has simultaneously forged a career as a composer, contributing "Black Chocolate" and "Orange Sky" to F.T. Island's Japanese album Rated FT, among other achievements. In 2022, he launched a YouTube career with personal channel Honggi Jonggi while his catchy new single "Amor Fati" arrived in 2023.
