Born in the Netherlands and living his teen years during the EDM boom of the early 2010s, Luc quickly fell in love with electronic music. Under the artist name Pricky—derived from his surname Prickaerts—he produces and performs music that’s as distinctive as his name. The English meaning of "Pricky" suggests something “spicy” or “tickling,” perfectly capturing his artistic vision: captivating listeners with deeply melodic tracks grounded by heavy basslines that resonate on the dancefloor.
A musical journey that started early, Pricky has been DJing since the age of 11 and playing piano since he was 7. After sharing remixes on SoundCloud and steadily honing his craft, he felt ready to release his own original music on streaming platforms.
About his sound, Pricky says:
“I feel my music doesn’t fit neatly into just one genre. I aim to create tracks I love hearing on the dancefloor myself. My work draws significant influence from the 80s, which I often blend with other genres, from classical to gospel and beyond. For instance, 'Never Let Me Down Again’ features a Bach-inspired Baroque modulation in its second verse. I’m a big admirer of Avicii, who masterfully combined diverse genres—like country and electronic music—to create something distinctive and new.”
